Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street Executive Director Selection Underway
The Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street (DLSMS) Selection Committee held its first meeting on August 3 to begin the process of selecting the next Executive Director for DLSMS. The Selection Committee intends to post the position opening during September, conduct interviews during October, and hire the Executive Director by late November. Visit http://69.195.124.53/~downtpg7/ for details once they become available.
The Selection Committee intends to solicit input from downtown stakeholders in development of questions for the employment application in the near future. This input will ensure that the Selection Committee selects the best candidate to build on the relationship DLSMS has with the downtown merchants.
Sarah Shore will fill the role of interim DLSMS Executive Director during the selection process. Ryan Smarr, newly elected president of the DLSMS Board of Directors remarked on Shore, “It’s wonderful having Sarah fill the interim Executive Director role. The organization should not skip a beat with her knowledge and experience with DLSMS.”
Jeanine Rann resigned as Executive Director effective July 29 to take a position as the Community Development Coordinator for Missouri Main Street Connection.

New Officers Elected
During the August 2 Board of Directors meeting, new officers were elected. They are: Ryan Smarr, president; John Beaudoin, vice-president; Christine Bushyhead, secretary; and Paul Schwartz, treasurer.
In deciding to not seek another term as president, Steve Tominia referenced standard practices of Main Street associations and his business as considerations. Downtown Main Streets typically have a president for 2 to 3 years; Tominia served for 7 years. “We [Downtown Lee’s Lee's Summit] were going through a lot of construction downtown and I was asked to stay on longer than was typical to see the process through. The needs at Cameron’s have also changed and I need to be more involved there,” said Tominia.
