The main parade route is on Green, Third and S.E. Main streets. This is the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day, and this year's theme is “Bits O' Blarney.”

New this year is a TRADITIONAL IRISH BREAKFAST, which takes place the morning of the parade from 8-11 a.m. at Mingle, 209 S.E. Main St. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages 10 and younger, if purchased in advance by calling 816-246-6598. Tickets purchased at the door are $12 for adults and $7 for ages 10 and younger.

A BITS O' GOLD COIN HUNT takes place at 10:30 a.m. in the City Hall Plaza, 220 S.E. Green St. Kids 8 and under are eligible to participate. No registration is necessary. Prizes will be awarded.

The fun continues after the parade with a PERFORMANCE BY THE IRISH BAND DOGTREE from 2 to 3 p.m. in Howard Station Park.

Once again parade-goers will have a chance to participate in the EMERALD ISLE PUB CRAWL at 2 p.m. March 10, immediately following the parade. Attendees can register at any of the participating Downtown Lee’s Summit restaurants and bars by buying $10 a pub crawl T-shirt and lanyard. After visiting each bar, participants will get their lanyard hole-punched. Lanyards that have been hole-punched by all participating bars can be dropped off at any of those bars by closing time Saturday, March 10, to be eligible to win prizes. Prizes include a Bud Light Party Cruise, a Budweiser mini-fridge and a Budweiser guitar. T-shirts and lanyards are on sale now and can be purchased in advance of the pub crawl while supplies last.

Downtown businesses also will have their doors open as they celebrate and showcase spring decor. Pull out some green clothing and head to Downtown Lee's Summit for a full day of festivities.

The Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Parade is sponsored by Bank of Lee's Summit and the Lee's Summit Journal.
